Secret Athens
A private tour around the most scenic neighbourhoods of Athens.
This is a pleasant easy pace stroll which will include several stops in traditional local shops, discovering vibrant, colourful markets and the best hidden food gems. During our walk we will talk about the origins of the recipes before we arrive at the tavern for traditional local dishes paired with wine.
It is a great, informative and fun way to learn about what happened in Athens from the 5th century B.C to the present day. You will learn about the city’s history, architecture and landmarks while supporting exclusively family-run businesses. A pleasant way to be able to orientate in this beautiful city, Athens as we all participate to create a puzzle on what we call greek gastronomy through a trip to mediterranean and all around the globe.

- We will visit 5 foodie spots. e.g Bakery shop since 1923. A greek pies shop since 1945. Coffee shop since 1930. Greek yoghurt, dairy shop since 1933. A taste of the best authentic shops at places locals cherish
- More than 25 food tastings. Food, coffee & wine (equivalent to breakfast, brunch and lunch)
- Explore Athens cultural sites and historic neighborhoods (Anafiotika, Monastiraki, Psyrri, Plaka, 11th century church, herbs and spices street, Kotzia square. )
- Experience “Varvakios Agora”, Athens central fish, meat, vegetables and fruit market
- A meal at Athens local tavern paired with homemade wine.
- All costs of the food, beverage, coffee, wine & spirits, desserts provided during the tour + the private guide, included in the price

This is a woman-owned sole proprietorship, created and led by Vivian — a gastronomy expert with years of experience in food culture and storytelling. My tours are intimate, ethical, authentic, and deeply connected to local life. Unlike large agencies, I focus on the soul of Greek gastronomy.
Do you take commissions from any eatery or shop?
No. To ensure the ultimate foodie experience, I only select the best eateries based on quality. I support family-run businesses exclusively, and I pay for all tastings myself. I do not accept commissions or kickbacks, which ensures honesty, authenticity, and ethical tourism.
How much food is included?
A generous amount! Depending on the tour, you will enjoy between 15 to 30 food tastings—equivalent to a full, multi-course meal. Beverages (water, coffee, wine, and other spirits) are also included. You will definitely not leave hungry or thirsty, I promise!
Are alcoholic drinks included?
Yes, depending on the tour. Wine, spirits, or traditional Greek beverages are often part of the tasting experience. Please note that alcohol is only served to guests aged 18 and over.
Is the tour available in other languages?

Yes! Please inform me of any allergies, intolerances, or specific dietary needs when booking. With advance notice, I can tailor safe and delicious alternatives for you.
Are vegetarian or vegan options available?
Vegetarian options are available on most tours. Vegan options are possible with prior notice—please contact me in advance so I can prepare the best possible experience for you.

Yes. Restrooms are available at several of the tasting locations throughout the experience.
How much walking is involved?
What should I bring?
Bring comfortable shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, sunglasses, a hat, and a big appetite! Everything else is taken care of.
What happens if it rains?
The experience goes on! Athens is beautiful in the rain, but please come prepared with an umbrella or a waterproof jacket.
Are cameras permitted?
Definitely! Taking photos of your culinary journey is highly encouraged.
Do you offer private tours?
Yes! Private, tailor-made food experiences are available for individuals, couples, groups, or families. These are perfect for celebrations and special occasions.
What if I’m running late?
Tours begin promptly, so please try to arrive on time. If you are delayed, contact me immediately. While I will always try to help you catch up, the group may need to proceed to stay on schedule.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please refer to our full booking terms. Generally, cancellations made within a certain period before the tour may not be refundable, as tastings and logistics are prepared and paid for in advance.
